A very private garden in Herne Hill.
Our client wanted privacy, low maintenance and somewhere to read out of the rain.
The vertical slats of softwood were fixed 5mm apart to allow a sliver of daylight between them to avoid the garden feeling like the inside of a packing case.
Large slabs of riven Indian sandstone were laid like York stone to create an ‘up-market’ appearance. Small planting cut-outs were created for some greenery.
The pergola was fitted with an almost invisible roof of thin plastic to keep the rain off the hammock on warm, damp days.
